thinking outside the box.

Let’s face it: boxed packaging is overused, unsustainable and outdated.

This packaging redesign of Bar Station’s six piece shot glasses set is minimal and exemplifies the qualities of the glasses while still remaining secure, accessible and modern.

effective and sustainable.

Packaging for glasses tends to be restricted to boxes filled with inserts to reduce movement and improve stability. Bar Station’s updated packaging is created from a single sheet of recycled paper stock, without the need for inserts or adhesives.

The updated packaging approaches the same issue by ‘wrapping’ around the glasses conforming to their shape while keeping it secure. This allows for the products to remain visible and stable, without being covered by bulky packaging. The package is secured by two locking tabs that ensure an ease of accessibility and recycling.

Initial product sketches (below) explore the “wrapping” concept which would encapsulate all glasses within a single sheet. One frames the idea of minimalism, while the other maximizes stability – both of which were carried into the final design.

an updated rebrand.

The previous brand mark was outdated and did not match the essence of the new packaging. The brand mark was modified to reflect the sleek and conservative form of the package, while still remaining unique to its competitors .
